American brand of athletic footwear and apparel, Saucony, has released a limited-edition capsule collection of sneakers manufactured from vegetable-tanned leather as part of its commitment to more environmentally friendly practices.

The 'Veg Tan' pack includes a limited-edition colorway on three classic Originals styles: the Jazz 81, Jazz Court, and Shadow 6000, which were chosen to symbolize "the best of the brand's 123-year tradition."

The use of vegetable-tanned leather, which soaks in natural tannins to affect the unique color and character that forms the base of the sneaker, creating a natural and eco-friendly cushion, is at the heart of the new sneaker collection, while natural wax makes up the laces.

According to the brand, the styles were also created with minimalism in mind, allowing the warm, organic vegetable-tanned leather to complement the simplicity and clean lines of Saucony's legacy designs.

Furthermore, the sneakers are designed to age organically with wear through a process known as patina, thanks to the use of naturally chosen materials. Each shoe will "age wonderfully against the sunlight and dampness of every climate," according to Saucony.

Anne Cavassa, Saucony president, said that they’re totally committed to reducing their footprint, utilizing more recycled, natural, or other eco-friendly materials whenever possible. The Veg Tan pack, which features the iconic Jazz 81, Jazz Court, and Shadow 6000, showcases the best of Saucony's 123-year tradition; now in biodegradable leather, this gorgeous classic trio stimulates greater self-expression in an authentic, planet-friendly, and authentically Saucony style.

The Saucony Originals 'Veg Tan' pack for the Shadow 6000, Jazz Court, and Jazz 81 will be available in a limited quantity in unisex sizing, with costs starting at 110 pounds.
