Ralph Lauren has announced a number of sustainability commitments in support of the ongoing United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), as well as supporting the US Regenerative Cotton Fund's sustained development.
As part of its Global Citizenship and Sustainability ambitions, the corporation, which handles a number of brand names, has joined others in adhering to a series of pledges representative of the COP26 efforts.
The label has signed the We Mean Business Coalition, which calls on G-20 countries to improve their Nationally Determined Contributions by halving global emissions by 2030 and committing to net-zero emissions by 2050.
In accordance with the Textile Exchange, it also signed a policy statement demanding that policymakers engage with the fashion sector to build intelligent trade policy instruments dedicated to the use of environmentally friendly materials.
In addition, the Ralph Lauren Corporation has pushed for the Renewable Energy Demand Initiative, requiring clean energy procurement choices in several key worldwide areas where it does business.
In addition to its new commitments, the corporation applauded the US Regenerative Cotton Fund's selection as an Agricultural Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate) Innovation Sprint Partner. The effort will be backed by investments from the United States and the United Arab Emirates during the next five years. Ralph Lauren's Foundation has also contributed a five-million-dollar gift to the fund.
Patrice Louvet, President and Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Lauren Corporation, said that as a global society, they must work together to address today's difficulties so that future generations inherit a planet rich in natural beauty and inspiration. That is why they are working toward their Net Zero target, and the U.S. Regenerative Cotton Fund, which was established through a collaboration between the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation and the Soil Health Institute, is a good fit for their objectives. They're thrilled that this work has been recognized as an AIM for Climate Innovation Sprint Partner.
