Traceability solutions provider based in the US, TruTag Technologies, has announced that it will expand its Truspect technology to the apparel sector, in order to authenticate garments, increase supply chain transparency, and battle counterfeiters.

TruTags, spectrally-encoded microscopic particles covertly embedded directly onto garments using current product finishes and sewn-in labels, and verified using a standard mobile phone, are used in the technique.

With a global worth of over $1.8 trillion, the counterfeit business is regarded as one of the most successful criminal organizations. The rapid growth of e-commerce has further worsened this problem since product authenticity becomes even more difficult to check when third-party merchants are included.

The company said in a press release that rather than directly securing the goods, several garment authentication methods focus on securing the package or detachable components. The Truspect solution, on the other hand, gives clothes a secure digital identity that can be verified by consumers via the Truspect mobile app, giving them peace of mind and adding another layer of credibility to the seller.

The technology provides a digital platform that secures the clothes items themselves rather than packaging and detachable elements like hang tags. The proprietary authentication technology is produced in a strictly regulated production facility.

Micro-particles are immediately integrated into clothing garments or sewn-in labels as part of the solution. Smart tags are used in a way with minimal impact on the elegance of a garment. 

The cost of integrating TruTags into clothes is a fraction of the total cost of manufacture. Manufacturers may easily integrate the technology into any workflow. since it uses existing finishes and processes.

Customers can choose from a variety of authentication methods like forensic recovery and mobile app verification. Brands may use the solution to address supply-chain issues such as illegitimate manufacture, unauthorized production, tracing sustainability issues, and fraudulent returns.
