Vinted, a European consumer-to-consumer (C2C) fashion shop, has launched in Canada in an effort to encourage more consumers to switch to the growing circular fashion economy. It will allow Canadians from Vancouver to Montreal to effortlessly and efficiently swap their pre-loved clothes and accessories.
Through an app accessible for both iOS and Android, consumers may purchase and sell clothing and accessories they no longer use. The app allows people of all genders and ages to communicate and exchange their used clothing.
The company's move into Canada comes after raising €250 million ($305 million) earlier this month to help it expand into new areas and invest in products and people.
According to research carried out by Vinted in December, more than a third of Canadians have previously acquired pre-loved fashion goods, with 45% choosing to recycle worn garments rather than discarding them.
Thomas Plantenga, Vinted CEO, said Canada is a great market match for them and an exciting next step in their aim to make secondhand fashion the preferred option throughout the world. They know that Canadians are becoming more interested in the circular economy and may explore swapping used clothing in the coming months, therefore lowering their fashion footprint for the greater good.
He adds they also observe that the motives for buying and selling pre-owned clothes are comparable to those in their European markets, so they're certain that Vinted's advantages and simplicity will translate.
Vinted is a growing network of 45 million members across 13 markets, with a vision to make secondhand the first choice of customers throughout the world, while also encouraging individuals to keep their garments in circulation for longer.
