At the 93rd Academy Awards, Red Carpet Green Dress (RCGD) and Lenzing's Tencel brand have renewed their partnership for a second year. As part of their partnership, RCGD and Tencel released a line of eco-couture fabrics made from Tencel fibers, which are currently being turned into bespoke looks for a variety of Oscar nominees and red carpet guests.
The looks themselves, as well as the talent wearing the styles, will be revealed on the night of the Oscars on Sunday, April 25, according to Lenzing's press release, paying homage to RCGD's origins as a fashion competition.
The Oscars will be broadcast live from various locations in the United States and Europe for the first time. In addition, a stunning design created by leading ethical luxury designer Benedetti Life, that featured an RCGD x Tencel Luxe eco-couture textile, was revealed at the Red Carpet Green Dress Pre-Oscar Gala last year.
Tencel branded lyocell fibers, modal fibers, and filament yarn of 100% botanic origin will be used in this year's projects. The fibers and filament yarn are made from recycled wood products and processed in environmentally friendly ways. Fabrics made of Tencel Modal and Lyocell fibers are also gentle on the skin, offering smooth, long-lasting softness, breathability, color vibrancy, and color retention features.
Tencel Luxe filament yarn gives fabrics an exquisite sensual appeal with its silky smoothness, liquid-like drape, and color vibrancy, making it suitable for eco couture and luxury wear. Under agricultural, household, soil, freshwater, and marine environments, all Tencel fibers are certified biodegradable and compostable.
