Washington DC-based Conservation X Labs which is an innovative technology company for finding global solutions for the sustainable model has collaborated with the global partners to announce a $650,000 innovation competition welcoming solutions to our microplastic pollution problem.

Each year the company holds similar competitions for specific conservation problems. This year the challenge is the "microfiber innovation challenge" which is welcoming the geniuses from the world to help to put a stop to plastic microfiber pollution. Plastic microfiber has polluted our entire ecosystem. The water we drink is also contaminated in high amounts of microplastics and we are ingesting it at a high rate every day. 

In the long-term, it has some serious impacts on our health. Our clothes are contributing to a high amount of microplastic fiber accumulation as the fibers shed into the environment with every wash. The fashion industry has realized the problem so far but isn't very successful in finding any feasible option and alternative. Some partnerships are being made for similar concerns like the one of direct-to-customer sustainable apparel brand PANGAIA and material science company Kintra fibers, they are working on producing compostable fabric blends and later on willing to supply the material to different industries worldwide to help them reach sustainability standards. 

Aspirants can submit their applications for innovative ideas for replacing the traditional plastics and polyesters and making non-toxic, biodegradable alternatives for them, till the 25th of June 2021.
