• Naturally coloured cotton: Coloured cotton exists in nature itself due to the presence of pigments in the lumen of the fibers. The fibers have an inherent colour i.e. green or brown. Thus, organic cotton cultivation does not involve the use of toxic chemicals and harmful pesticides.

• Bt. Cotton: Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt.) cotton is a genetically modified cotton which has an excellent yield and remains unaffected by ball worms. However, it has certain disadvantages such as it affects the natural gene flow and depletes biodiversity.
