Sustainability continues to be a strong theme for Lucky Textile Mills Ltd., which produces bedding, window treatments and kitchen textiles.

Abdul Aziz Japanwalla, general manager-marketing and sales, said during Heimtextil this week, Lucky is promoting its various blends made with Tencel lyocell, Tencel modal, SeaCell, an eco-friendly fabric made from seaweed; and Terylene.

“We are the first company in Pakistan to be Step/MIG (Sustainable Textile Production by Oeko-Tex/Made in Green) certified, meaning all the products being manufactured at our facility are manufactured through sustainable practices,” said Japanwalla.

Additionally, he said, “We just got Cradle to Cradle certified, which is another chapter toward our sustainability goals. Our processing machines also utilize less water and energy and we also have the practice to recover steam from the process to generate energy. Apart from this, the products reflect sustainability as well. Tencel’s sustainability is well known, and we are also introducing SeaCell fiber in our products, which is again manufactured through sustainable practices. Our Terylene fiber—recycled polyester made from PET bottles—is another strong green addition.”

Finally, he said, “We are also promoting Intellifresh by Dow Chemicals, which is an anti-microbial and anti-odor finish. This gives the consumer the advantage of washing the product less, hence energy and water conservation.”

Because of its successful practices on environmental standards and legislation, sustainability and green initiatives, pollution prevention, resource saving and employee awareness programs, Lucky Textile Mills received the 2019 Environmental Excellence Award from the National Forum for Environment & Health, a non-governmental, nonprofit organization.

From a style standpoint, Japanwalla said Pantone’s color of the year, Classic Blue, will be featured in the company’s Heimtextil presentations, highlighted with green, along with black, gray and a “pinch of vibrant color.” Textures on display will range from sheared jacquards and dobby patterns to chenille, corded embroidery and various dobby weaves.

Lucky Textile, which has been in business since 1983, is showing in Hall 10.2, Booth C-13 at Heimtextil.
