Asian PTA markers edged down US$1 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast in the last week of December 2015. CFR India also slipped US$1 a ton on the week.

In China, sellers showed low interest at US$580 a ton, while buyers were reluctant to buy goods at above US$550-555 a ton.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s offers were at US$574 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers at US$605-610 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices were stable weekend but edged down on the week, tracking the price movement in Northeast Asia.

In China, PTA trading volume expanded once again that week, while the prices changed little after the market remained quiet in the last week before the New Year’s Day holiday.

Suppliers mostly sold goods for January or February deliveries while buyers most made arbitrage.
