In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices were up US cents 6 a kg in the second week of January while FDY40D surged US cents 10 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices were up US cents 6 a kg while 30D/10F rose US cents 13 a kg during the week.
Monofilament 30D prices were up US cents 6 a kg, while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rolled over during the week.
Nylon filament yarn offers headed north on cost push as caprolactum and nylon chip prices surged on cost push and supply constraints. Markets turned stable to firm on the back of high-priced nylon chips but buying interest was mute at high price.
Demand was sober as warp-knitting and weaving sectors operated at 60-70% capacity. Meanwhile, circular-knitting mills and lacing mills ran at low rate of 20-40%. Producers are contemplating to carry out production cutbacks with breakeven operation in the second half of January.
