Fashionsustain, a new two-day event in the textile industry which will centre around three key sub-themes; material, production and circularity is all set to be held in January 2018 as part of Berlin Fashion Week.
Each theme will be addressed by a keynote speaker and subsequent break-off discussions regarding the latest developments, best practice and future practice for the industry.
The fashion and textile industry is currently undergoing a period of fundamental transition. Technological developments and the strategic implementation of sustainability are showing how a collaborative approach to innovation makes this shift beneficial to all stakeholders.
Messe Frankfurt and Premium Group have joined forces to create a new home for the future of fashion. The cooperating platforms FASHIONSUSTAINBERLIN + FASHIONTECHBERLIN are offering a source of inspiration where stakeholders from all textile and fashion disciplines can exchange ideas about applied innovation.
The organizers Messe Frankfurt describe the event as an ‘incubator for responsible innovation’, it will feature two one-day conferences – Fashionsustain and Fashiontech – alongside a fashion show and a ‘Thinkathon’, for industry representatives to discuss ideas around the ‘Run for Circularity’ theme.
Fashionsustain Olaf Schmidt, vice president of Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt said that sustainability, innovation and technology go hand in hand – Fashionsustain and Fashiontech will bring together the different protagonists of future thinking and create new formats for an interdisciplinary dialogue.
Past speakers at Fashiontech include Dirk Schönberger of Adidas, Rainer Borchert from Google, and Sergio Bucher, vice president of Amazon Fashion.
As part of the event, stakeholders in the textile value chain will be given the opportunity to discuss ‘the application of innovations in a multidisciplinary context’.
The conference will be held on 16-17 January 2018 at the Kraftwerk centre in Berlin.
