Bihar state has earmarked a land tract of 115 acres in Bihta on the outskirts of capital Patna to set up an apparel and textiles park. The proposed park forms part of the state policy to promote textiles, leather, information technology and food processing, this was recently announced by the state deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
Modi was speaking after the inauguration of a three-day fair organized by the Bihar Readymade Garments Association.
Urging readymade garment producers to invest in Bihar, he said that a number of incentives such as land registration exemption and an additional grant of 10 percent interest on bank loans are on offer to those willing to invest in the state.
Bihar state has immense potential for job creation in this sector as 90 percent workers employed in this industry in Mumbai and Bengaluru hail from the state, according to a news agency report.
