Minister of State(Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangawar in a reply during question hour in the Lok Sabha informed today that government has launched Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme(TUFS), Schemes for the development of the Powerloom sector, Schemes for Technical textiles, Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks(SITP) and Integrated Skill Development Scheme.

He said that the production of textiles and garments was predominantly in the private sector. Therefore, the government does not prescribe targets for the textile and garment Industry.

The foremost objectives of the government were increasing production of textiles garments through various policy interventions.

These schemes were intended to strengthen the country’s textile sector and generate employment opportunities for textile workers.
