The MP Silk Federation ( A Govt. of Madhya Pradesh Undertaking) is currently engaged in developing sericulture activities in the state, to promote traditional art and artisanship of silk industry organized an exhibition-cum-sale of pure silk handloom woven cloth items. The exhibition began on Friday at Cawnpore Club inaugurated by district magistrate Roshan Jacob and will continue till February 25.

M.P. Silk is involved in developing sericulture activities in the state and to provide sustainable employment for backward rural poor through Seri cultural activities such as Rearing of Silkworm, Cocoon production, Reeling of cocoon, Storing of cocoon, Weaving, Dying, Printing ,Processing and Marketing of Silk cloths, etc.

The federation has established a benchmark in quality silk which meets the international standards. The raw material from MP is being used by all silk producing states of the country. Besides MP, it is used on large-scale in the production of finished products by entrepreneurs in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan. Maharashtra, UP and West Bengal.

The main purpose behind the exhibition is to provide market links to the financially weak silk weavers working with the federation and to revive and promote traditional art and artisanship of the state with prime object of awareness and to educate about pure silk in the common people, MP Silk Federation general manager Rakesh Kumar Srivatsava said,
