US is the main destination for Peruvian children wear exports, which accounts to nearly 64.2 percent of the total children’s clothing exported from Peru. But there is a declined seen by 6.6 percent to the US during the first two months of 2014 according to the ADEX data.

According to the ADEX data, Chile ranked second for Peruvian exports of children wear during the first two month of 2014. However, there was a drop by 73 percent in the children’s clothing exports during the months to the country.
Beside Chile, it also witnessed a tumble in exports to countries such as Ecuador, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia during the months of January and February by 31 percent, 74.2 percent, 92.8 percent, 91.2 percent and 90.7 percent, respectively.
During 2013, Peru exported textiles and clothing worth $2 billion, of which clothing shipments worth $1.6 billion, accounting for 80 percent of the total textile and apparel exports from the country. The US stood to be the main destination for Peruvian textiles and garments exports, accounting for 34 percent of the overall exports of textiles and apparel.
According to ADEX, the decrease in exports of children wear during the first two month of 2014 to countries such as Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Bolivia may well be attributed to the trade hurdles affecting free trade.
