Govt plans to hold shows and exhibition in non-traditional market to boost textile exports

One of the leading focuses of the Modi Government, the textile industry, is all set to foster as an apposite move has been made by the Union Textiles Minister to burgeon the sector’s exports.

He announced that the Government is providing grants under Market Access Initiative and Market Development Assistance Scheme. The grants include assistance to textiles exporters for export promotion activities abroad, assistance to textiles export promotion councils (EPCs) to undertake export promotion activities for their products and commodities.

Market Linked Focus Product Scheme (MLFPS) incentivizes export of products that have high employment intensity in rural and semi urban areas, to offset infrastructure inefficiencies and other associated costs involved in marketing of these products.

It also includes back up to approved organizations/trade bodies in undertaking exclusive non-recurring activities connected with export promotion efforts for their members, assistance for export promotion programmes in specific regions abroad; residual essential activities connected with marketing promotion efforts abroad; to defend India's interests abroad against protectionist measures and non-tariff barriers; exploring non-traditional markets, etc.

The government is exploring new markets by holding shows in Russian Federation, Israel, Eastern Europe, Latin American countries and other non-traditional markets.
