Pochampally Ikat Art Mela-2014 at Lions Club in Ramnagar in the city organised to promote the Indian traditional handloom industry, will be on till December 2. A range of handloom products from Pochampally will be on display for the next seven days.
With a collection of rich traditional weaves designed intricately to suit the needs of the contemporary Indian women, Pochampally Handloom Park Limited has brought a range of saris, dress materials, bed linen, silk and handloom dupattas, cotton shirts, bags with a blend of leather and cloth materials, curtains and many more as part of its annual Pochampally Ikat Art Mela.
Pochampally Handloom Park director Lava Kumar Bharata said that these handlooms were a part of an age-old Indian tradition that reflect Indian culture and its rich artistry. By promoting handlooms, they support the artisans and local community who have been passing on their skills for generations. Each design is a result of the individual artisan’s creativity which is influenced by the local traditions and cultures.
The week-long exhibition has exclusive handloom products skilfully created by world famous weavers of Pochampally. However, home textile, apparel fabrics, stoles, scarves and sarees in silk and cotton, duppatas, table mats, covers, cotton shirts and kurtis, hand bags and engineered blends have been the special attractions.
From subtle shades of breezy handloom weaves to a combination of silk and cotton sari of warp and weft creations and Pochampally saris in silk, cotton and spun yarns, the place has a lot to offer for those who like to experiment with comfort and style.
The hand-woven and eco-friendly products have proved to be a delight for fashion connoisseurs in the city.
