CAP Carpet, a longtime business based in Wichita, owns Aircraft Interior Products and White Oak Custom Carpet has acquired Mountain Rug Mills and Spinning Wheel Rugs in Hendersonville, N.C. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen AIP and White Oak’s capabilities in the manufacture of luxury carpet for the general aviation industry, a CAP official said.

Aaron Pirner, CAP Carpet owner, said that they are very excited to have the opportunity to acquire such a reputable specialty carpet manufacturer so close to their existing White Oak Plant in Spindale (N.C.).

This acquisition will permit them to provide a new level of unique unbeatable styling as well as improve their speed and quality of color match on yarn.

AIP established its roots in the private aviation business, supplying specialty wool carpets for major corporate aircraft clients. AIP’s parent company, CAP Carpet, purchased White Oak in 2009.

Mountain Rug Mills has been operating in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina since the 1940s makes carpets and rugs for residential, commercial and aviation uses. They have worked with Dupont to pioneer the dyeing and manufacturing process for the Nomex fiber used for these materials and have been presently making using "Ultem", a fiber developed by Sabic Innovative Plastics.
